Threads, knitwear, old T-shirts, cord or rope - rugs and carpets can be made from a variety of materials.
Rug from pompons: master class
If you make such a rug from cotton threads, it will be especially good for the bathroom - soft and pleasant, while perfectly absorbing moisture. On the other hand, as you should stock up on threads and patience, you can make a large carpet out of pompoms - for the nursery, bedroom or living room. For such a carpet, both wool and acrylic are suitable.
You will need:
- knitting threads of one or different colors;
- a device for the manufacture of pompons (in this case, it is replaced by a sleeve from a roll of paper towels);
- scissors;
- net for carpet (sold in hardware stores).
Follow the sequence shown in the video:

Rug from knitted shreds: master class
Photo: armommy.com
Such a rug can be made both from a specially purchased knitted fabric (it is convenient to look for leftovers in a fabric store), as well as from old knitted clothes - shirts, sweatshirts, t-shirts. A variegated rug and a plain one made of knitwear of the same thickness or different will be good.
You will need:
- knitted fabric or unnecessary clothing from knitwear;
- a grid for a carpet;
- ruler;
- cutting mat + round knife (you can also use good sharp scissors).
1. Prepare the fabric - smooth it, if you are dealing with clothes - cut the sleeves, elastic bands and so on. Fold the canvas in several layers.

2. Mark the fabric: you will need many strips of the same width (in this case, about 2.5 cm, you can make the strips a bit narrower or wider).

3. Cut all prepared fabric into strips.

4. Cut long strips into equal segments (in this case, about 12.5 cm long, you can make it a little longer or shorter).

5. Start tying the strips to the grid as shown in the pictures.

6. Tie the strips at approximately the same distance from each other until the entire mesh is full. The mat is ready.

How to paint a do-it-yourself rug
Braided rug: master class
Photo: thewonderforest.com
For such a rug, you can also collect and recycle unnecessary knitted clothes. The mat is round, you can also make it oval, square - if desired.
You will need:
- unnecessary knitted clothes;
- scissors;
- needle with thread.
1. Cut the t-shirts into long strips of the same width (about 3 cm).

2. Take three strips, tie them in a knot and start weaving a pigtail.

3. Having weaved a small section of a pigtail, wrap it around a knot. Pass one of the strips through the loop of the pigtails to fix the pigtail in a circle.

4. Continue to weave the pigtail and fold it into a circle, fixing it from time to time, as shown above.

5. When one of the stripes ends, attach the next one to it, as shown in the pictures.

6. Sew the mat to the desired size and fasten the ends of the strips with thread with a needle.

P. S. You can connect the pigtail into the rug by stitching it in a circle manually or by fitting it on a typewriter. This will complicate the process somewhat, but the mat will turn out to be more dense and even.
