The main problem when cutting parts of faux fur products is the strong flowability of the material. Synthetic hairs scatter absolutely over the entire working surface and around it.

Perhaps this is one of the main problems of faux fur, which can even make you abandon the most interesting sewing project and new experience.

But there is a very simple way that will significantly reduce the friability of faux fur during cutting, even when working with long-necked specimens.

16 tips for sewing faux fur

You will need:

✂ Wide tape;

✂ Tailor scissors

Step 1

Faux fur lay on a flat surface in one layer with the wrong side up.

Transfer the contours of the paper pattern to the fur. In this case, all the details of the pattern should be located in one direction - strictly in the direction of the pile.

Step 2

For the convenience of cutting parts, use the ruler to mark allowances.

When cutting parts, slightly raise the artificial fur above the surface and cut with scissors only the woven base of the fur, trying to grab the pile as little as possible.

Step 3

After cutting, slightly spread with your hands the cuts of the cut about 1−2 cm from each other.

Take a wide adhesive tape and stick it along the length of the entire cut, pressing it well against the surface of the base of the faux fur.

Remove the scotch tape, and with it the fur fibers that were touched with scissors during the cutting of parts.

Repeat the procedure if necessary.
