Lyocell is made from eucalyptus wood: this beautiful and pleasant to wear material also has useful qualities.

What is lyocell?

Lyocell is a fiber and fabric (or fabric) made from eucalyptus wood. This material is considered high-tech, and it appeared not so long ago. Lyocell was invented in 1988, in 1991 - introduced to the market, and after 6 years its mass production began. Today lyocell can also be found under the names (trademarks) "Tensel" (Tencel, made in the USA) and "Orcel" (made in Russia). So, lyocell can be called tensel, tensel, tenzel, tenzel or orcel.

Despite the fact that lyocell is an artificially created material, it is considered environmentally friendly, moreover, it has useful properties that it “inherited” from the eucalyptus from which the material is made. These are hypoallergenic and antiseptic properties inherent in eucalyptus. By the way, a real lyocell should be made precisely and only from eucalyptus, without the use of other types of wood.

Lyocell is a smooth and pleasant to the touch material. It has a slight soft shine. The properties of lyocells are compared with high-quality cotton, and in appearance - with silk.

Fabrics that are 100 percent lyocell are generally more expensive than materials that contain, in addition to eucalyptus fibers, such as viscose or cotton.In order for the fabric to retain the unique properties inherent specifically to lyocell, it is better that its composition be more than 50%. Both fabrics and knitwear are made from eucalyptus fibers.

It is a durable material, both in dry and in wet condition.

* Durability

Lyocell does not fade for a long time, does not peel (is not covered with pellets), retains its shape.

* Hypoallergenic and antiseptic properties

Lyocell, as a rule, does not cause allergic reactions. Due to the antibacterial properties, lyocell fibers are used to make medical bandages. These properties are preserved after washing.

How to care for and work with lyocell?

* Lyocell can shrink when washing. Before work, the fabric must be patched.

* Lyocell is beautifully draped - it is good to use it for the corresponding models.

* This fabric is quite easy to wash, but requires a delicate wash. Water temperature is 30 degrees. Better not to use too much detergent. Chlorine bleaches are not recommended. Spin at low speeds. Machine drying is not recommended. It is better to dry products out of direct sunlight.

* Ironing - at low temperatures, up to 150 degrees.

* It is better to store things from lyocell where air access (ventilation) will be provided to them and there will be no strong humidity.
