It’s probably more difficult to choose a suitable trouser model than all other clothes. How to determine which pants are right for you? We asked the stylist Oksana Bolbot to tell about this.

In order to choose the perfect trousers, first of all, you need to have a good understanding of the features of your body: which lines prevail - rounded or linear.

Narrow hips

If you have narrow athletic hips, waist size is less than the hips by 20 centimeters or more and perfectly slender legs, choose models of straight cut trousers.

Rounded hips

Burda down trousers from Burda 7/2015 • Flared trousers from Burda 3/2015 • Slim trousers Plus from Burda 1/2015

If the hips are rounded, there is a sharp transition from the waist to the hips (the difference between the waist and hips is more than 25 cm) - choose narrower or flared models of trousers.

Little difference between the waist and hips

Pants with pockets from Burda 6/2013 • Pants with pockets from Burda 3/2013 • Pants with patchpockets from Burda 3/2013

If the figure is slim, but there is no elegant line of transition from the waist to the hips, choose models with a lowered waistline, pockets on the hips, and decorative elements (embroidery, drapery, patchwork) - all this will visually create the necessary volume.

Wide hips

Lightweight Flared Plus Pants from Burda 2/2015 • Plus Flared Pants from Burda 5/2014 • Dress pants with open ankle from Burda 11/2012

If the hips in the figure are the most prominent part, pay attention to the fabric of the trousers: it should be dense enough, visually create an even line of the body, not emphasize all the bulges and extra details. Choose models with a normal fit on the waist or a slightly high waist, without decorative elements on the hips, ideally with an open ankle or with a slight flare from the knee - these are the best models in terms of body shaping.

Fit

Flared Pants from Burda 10/2014

After you have roughly outlined the model search vector, it makes sense to go to the store and try on all the models you are interested in. Look, which belt in the trousers gives the best fit at the waist? This is one of the most important parts of trousers - if the model is large at the waist, then the entire line of the thigh literally drains into the knee area, distorting the whole idea of the style. Next, we look at the fit of the trousers on the buttocks - models created for curvaceous, will bubble on the hips of a sports type. Remember, there can be no creases on the back of your hips! If they are, then the size and model of the pants do not suit you at all. Next, we look at the groin area - if the trousers are small in the groin, there will be a large number of creases and folds in this part of the trousers, if a bubble appears in the groin area, the size of the trousers is also not selected correctly. By the way, please remember that a woman over 35 must cover the groin area with an upper layer of clothing.

Length trousers

We select the length of trousers for a specific shoe model.

Joggers from Burda 5/2015 • Pants 7/8 from Burda 8/2015 • Ankle-Length Pants from Burda 7/2015

The rule is this: if the trousers are the length of the narrowest part of the ankle (models 7/8), then the shoes must be with the foot open. This technique is very healthy slender legs and hips, and makes the silhouette very elegant.

Classic Marlene Pants from Burda 5/2015 • Classic Wide Pants from Burda 8/2015 • Classic Flared Pants from Burda 3/2015

If we select pants not shortened, but of a classic length, then we focus on the fact that the length reaches exactly the middle of the heel of the shoe. Accordingly, under the heel of different heights, pants of completely different lengths will be needed.

Body proportions

Focus on the nature of the lines of the body: linearity in the body likes linearity in a cut, but if the figure resembles a guitar, choose flared or narrowed models.See how torso and leg length are balanced in your body. Ideal proportions have a figure in which three heights of your head are placed above the waist, and five "heads" from the waist to the heels. If the legs fit less than three "heads", choose comfortable shoes with the highest possible heel for you and already select the length of the trousers for it (to the middle of the heel). The long torso is well balanced by a high waistline.

High Waist Trousers from Burda 9/2014 • High Waist Trousers from Burda 6/2015 • Burda High Waist Skinny Trousers 1/2015

But a shortened body will look more profitable in models with a lowered waistline.

Advice

Tip number 1

Do not wear straight cut pants if you have a feminine, rounded figure. This is the most common mistake, which ultimately leads a woman to a complete rejection of trousers.

Tip number 2

If you have a wide waist, avoid wide trousers with a flare from the waist - this will visually make the figure simply immense.

Council number 3

If your hips are so slender and athletic that the figure resembles a boy’s, do not wear models with narrow hips and a flare from the knee - this will only emphasize the natural thinness.

Trouser Models

Pantaloons

Culottes from Burda 3/2015 • Plus Culottes from Burda 8/2015

Take a look at trousers culottes - this model is very popular now and extremely versatile: it will help thin girls to create a feminine hip line, and for owners of curvaceous forms it will help to focus on narrow ankles, only in the second case, wear culottes with shoes with high heels.

Skinny

Skinny trousers from Burda 3/2013 • Skinny trousers from Burda 4/2013 • Burda Tapered Pants 4/2013

Skinny skinny pants are only suitable for very slim girls with a rectangle-like figure. They fill up the rest. Please consider this when choosing such a model. Try not to dwell on the same model of trousers - the world is beautiful in its diversity, try on new styles, get to know yourself, and then you are guaranteed not to get tired of the things that hang in your closet.
